Remember when your boyfriend pissed you off, and you went through his closet cutting up all his favorite t-shirts? No? Hmm, maybe that was just me. Anyway, it felt good and it made for some great rags.
Now, instead of going through boyfriends, I use recycled t-shirts, cut them up and remove all the accouterments (ooh, big word). I think some employees are still thinking about their ex-boyfriends or girlfriends when they cut them up. Good therapy.
We've rescued these old t-shirts from recycling centers to make lower-lint cotton rags that are great for painters, mechanics, and general upkeep.

Previously owned cotton tees are already broken in and washed, so they are very absorbent and can be used right away.
We start by recycling used material from various sources, and remove the buttons, pins and zippers. Next, the material is randomly cut into approximately 18" x 18" pieces and boxed.

How Many Rags in a Box?
Don't ask us for a specific count because we can't give it to you. We aren't being rude (at least this time), we just don't know, as it varies.
You are buying rags by the pound, not a specific quantity. The exact weight of each individual rag differs from the next, and there is simply no way to know the count. If you have more heavyweight rags in your box, you will have fewer rags, but those heavyweight rags will last longer. The weight of the rag is lighter if there are more rags in a box.
The only thing we know for sure is that the box of rags will always weigh 40 pounds, which includes the box. If you must have a count, we'll guarantee there will be at least one and less than a million rags in a 40-pound box! Sorry, it's the best we can do.
On a side note, have you weighed the boxes of rags you've received from other rag companies? We've heard from new RagLady customers that boxed rags from other companies don't always weigh what they should. Please don't hesitate to weigh our boxes! We guarantee they'll be the right weight, at a minimum.
